HOW IT WORKS
 |
 |
 |
|
You nail or screw
the Attach-It on the back of the picture
|
or mirror so the sharp
prongs are pointing downwards and sticking out from the
back of the picture.
|
Then you position the
picture on the wall and simply push the prongs into the
drywall.
|
THE
PHYSICS OF ATTACH-IT
Attach-It relies on the stiff vertical plane that rests against
the wall for its strength and stability. Gravity then holds the
Attach-It firmly in the wall. Shelves hold less weight than pictures
because the weight is pulling the Attach-It out of the wall as
well as down. Shelves
HOW MANY TO USE
 |
 |
|
Pictures under 6"
wide need only one Attach-It.
Holds 10lb
|
Pictures between 6"
and 24"
need 2 small Attach-Its.
Holds 20lb
|
Narrow Frames
If the picture is large and has a frame that is too narrow for
the large Attach-It (less than 7/8") you can mount up to
4 small Attach-Its, two on the top, and two on the bottom of the
frame. Multiples hold greater weight. One holds 10lb - Two hold
20lb - Three hold 30lb - Etc.
Greater Holding Power
For greater security in halls and stairways where pictures may
get bumped, use small Attach-Its at the bottom as well as the
top of the frame. This method will also withstand vigorous dusting
and pictures will stay straight.
Large Pictures
Large pictures, heavy mirrors, shelves, large sconces, shadow
boxes and wall sculpture require at least two 2 large Attach-Its.
Each large Attach-It will hold 50lb so 2 on the back of a mirror
will hold 100lb. To do this the Attach-It prongs must be fully
embedded in the drywall and the wall itself must be sound. Do
not hang more than 10lb on a shelf or a sconce. These will hold
less weight because the weight is no longer in sheer with the
wall - the physics has changed and the Attach-It is being pulled
out as well as down in the wall. Instructions-

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Attach-it is made for drywall (the other generic name for this
is 'sheetrock') and will not work on plaster, brick, tile, or
hard paneling. It may work on some soft paneling.
If you can stick a push-pin into the wall easily, the wall is
probably made of drywall.
Is your item suitable for Attach-It? Decorative items for walls
come in a myriad of shapes sizes and materials and Attach-it is
not suitable for everything. Items need to have a flat back to
mount the Attach-It on and a stiffness to hold the Attach-It against
the wall. Physics of Attach-It.
Wreaths and fabrics cannot usually be hung with Attach-Its.
Attach-its are designed for static decorative items. Items in
use such as towel holders and large cupboards with doors should
not be hung with Attach-Its. Hanging
misc items - cupboards
It is essential to remove all old hardware so when you
hang the item fitted with Attach-its, there is nothing
preventing the prongs from fully penetrating the drywall.
Check the frame is not warped or the backing of the picture
will prevent the prongs of the Attach-It embedding in
the drywall.

AVOIDING PROBLEMS
Try it once before the big hang. When you first use The Attach-It
Hanging System it is a good idea to try it on an inconspicuous
piece of wall to get the feel of the prongs going into the drywall.
You need to press quite hard depending on how many layers of paint
or wallpaper is on the wall. Also the hardness of drywall varies
from house to house.
Avoid scratching the wall. Holding a big item lightly
on the wall while you get it straight is hard to do. Try
letting the prongs grip the wall slightly. Here the fingers
are controlling how much of the prongs are sticking in
the wall. Then 'walk' the piece into place before pushing
it into the wall. This will avoid the prongs scratching
the wall if you don't hold it perfectly steady.
|
|
 |
|
Check the prongs are fully in the wall. Check to see
how far the prongs go into the wall by looking between
the wall and the item you are hanging. Look at the Attach-Its
and push more if the prongs are not completely buried
in the wall.

sheet that comes with the product.
WALLS THAT AREN'T STRAIGHT
Check that your walls are straight. Uneven walls can stop Attach-It
prongs from full insertion into the drywall. This problem is more
obvious with large or long horizontal pictures where you might
push one side of the picture and the other side pops out of the
wall because the picture is riding over a bump in the wall. This
can occur even in new houses.
REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE
WALL
Grasp the item firmly, keep the bottom of the picture or item
close to the wall, and jiggle the item up and out of the wall.
The natural inclination is to pull the bottom of the picture out.
This will damage the wall unnecessarily.
|
WHEN TO GLUE ATTACH-ITS ON AN ITEM
If the item is not made of wood or the screw 'bottoms
out' when mounting the large Attach-It, it is a good idea
to use glue in addition to the hardware provided. You
may sometimes need to use glue and longer screws if the
material is very soft as with some molded foam frames.

|
 |
PERMANENT INSTALLATION ON WALL
Attach-Its are designed to be removable. To install an item permanently
use glue on the back of the piece including on the mounted Attach-it
to glue the item onto the wall. Items suitable for gluing include
shelves and sconces, decorative fireplace surrounds, faux pillars
and architectural decorations, a bed headboard, a child's chalkboard,
etc. Removal of items installed in this way will result in surface
damage of the drywall.
